In March 2011, in collaboration with the organization “Pencils for kids”, we implemented an intercultural education project week for the kids in our school in Douar Anzal. In addition to the local kids, three children from the USA and Spain took part in this project. All together, they painted, photographed, played and shared this experience. In addition to these recreative days, a small library with books for children was set up along with school supplies, such as pencils, pencil sharpeners and notebooks, which were donated.
Various informative activities took place during the intercultural project week, including a special program with different workshops to encourage the children’s creativity. Over the week, they were able to open up and express themselves freely. These few days were a great experience for both, our international guests and our local students. A week, filled with great fun, and lots of laughter finished by photographing our guests in the Berber school. The photos were printed and framed. This way, the children had a memento to take home, to remind them of the remarkable week they had!
